Title:  Learn to Swim Coordinator

ҹɫ��Ƶapp invites applications for the position of Recreational Services Learn to Swim Coordinator. This individual will be responsible for the leadership, coordination, and promotion of the Learn to Swim (LTS) and aquatic programming serving both the Augustana campus and the greater Sioux Falls community. The role offers the opportunity to lead a dynamic team, mentor student staff, and contribute to life-saving aquatic education in a university setting.

This role operates primarily on nights and weekends, approximately 29 hours per week, 11 months per year.

The duties, competencies, and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

• Organizing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating Learn to Swim and aquatic programs for children, students, and families in Sioux Falls and surrounding communities.
• Teaching LTS classes as needed to support instructional staff and program consistency.
• Managing the LTS/aquatic registration database, participation records, and budget tracking.
• Providing consistent and effective communication with LTS parents and guardians.
• Selecting, training, supervising, and evaluating aquatic staff, including over 100 student employees in the recreation department.
• Coordinating scheduling of all aquatic personnel.
• Purchasing and maintaining equipment and supplies for the aquatic program.
• Marketing and promoting LTS programs through flyers, brochures, social media, email campaigns, and on-campus initiatives.
• Maintaining and enhancing content on the Recreational Services website.
• Supporting the Director of Recreational Services with broader planning, evaluation, and departmental initiatives.

We seek an individual with strong leadership and interpersonal skills who demonstrates a commitment to student development, safety, and community outreach. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, flexible with evening/weekend hours, and enthusiastic about aquatic instruction and recreation program growth.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Health, Physical Education, Outdoor Recreation, or a related field.
• Prior lifeguard experience and current certification (preferred).
• WSI certification (preferred).
• Strong commitment to working with students within a private, church-related university environment.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends as required by program schedules.
• American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, AED certification (preferred).
• Experience with program development and supervision, preferably in a collegiate or community recreation setting is helpful.

Title: Substitute Teacher

Department: Campus Learning Center

The ҹɫ��Ƶapp Campus Learning Center invites applications for Substitute Head Teachers. The hours for this position are 7:30 am 5:30 pm Monday through Friday. This is a year-round as-needed position.

These positions could occur in classrooms for children 1- to 3-year-olds or in classrooms for 3- to 6-year-olds. A teaching position could be for a five-hour or eight-hour shift, and could be for one day or several days in a row. Long term summer assignments are available.

Title:  General Maintenance

Position Type: Full-Time

Department: Facility Services

ҹɫ��Ƶapp invites applications for a General Maintenance position within our Facility Services department. This full-time role involves maintaining and repairing the university's buildings, grounds, and facilities using expertise in various maintenance areas, including carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, and general upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair plumbing fixtures, doors, locks, windows, cabinets, and finishes.
• Perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
• Operate equipment such as tractors, forklifts, and ditch diggers for maintenance projects.
• Assist with landscaping and special projects as directed by the supervisor.
• Act as the campus locksmith, managing key duplication, lock repairs, and security systems.

Title:  Campus Safety Officer

ҹɫ��Ƶapp invites applications for a Campus Safety Officer. This position operates every other weekend from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The duties, competencies, and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

• Patrol campus in vehicles and on foot in all weather conditions. Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points.
• Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of students, faculty, staff and visitors to guard against illegal or threatening activities, theft and to maintain security of premises.
• Observe and detect any criminal activity and/or violations of the university’s rules and regulations, as well as city, state and federal laws.
• Conduct investigations of incidents, including interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence.
• Complete detailed and accurate reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, surveillance activities, and witness interviews.
• Respond to unusual circumstances and secure emergency aid when needed, with moderate discretion for independent judgement.
• Prevents loss and damage by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy and procedures, restraining trespassers and reporting building and facility related issues such as flooding, poor or faulty lighting, trip hazards, etc.
• Communicate with the Sioux Falls Police Department, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue, Patient Care Ambulance Services, Metro Communications and other Federal, State, County and local Law Enforcement agencies that provide for public safety in the immediate surrounding areas.
• Answer telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information to community members.
• Take emergency and routine calls for service, record the details of the calls, dispatch appropriate security resources (local police, fire, EMS, etc.) and provide details to those responding.
• Provide professional and courteous service to University visitors, callers, other agencies, and vendors.

Qualifications for this position:

• Must possess a valid South Dakota Driver License or a valid Driver License of another state and can obtain a South Dakota Driver License.
• High School Diploma necessary. Prior military, law enforcement or security experience or training preferred, but not required.  
• Must be able to become certified in the use of an ASP baton, chemical spray, first responder emergency medical services to include the use of CPR and an AED (Automated External Defibrillator).
• Designated as an “essential employee”, the Officer may be required to remain on duty beyond normal shift and/or be available on a 24-hour basis to report for duty without prior notice due to emergencies or manpower shortages.

• Review and process incoming invoices and reimbursement requests received through the accounts payable email folder.

• Coordinate with Human Resources for vendor and employee ID updates when needed.
